Enhanced Gateway GPRS Service Node v2.0

The Enhanced Gateway GPRS Service Node (eGGSN) v2.0 course provides learners with capabilities needed to integrate, configure, troubleshoot, and manage a Cisco Enhanced GGSN (eGGSN) solution. The course provides a brief overview of mobile wireless standards, followed by the explanation of the basic platform—Cisco 7600 Series router and the Cisco Service and Application Module for IP (SAMI) module. The scalability and high availability features are discussed afterwards, followed by the explanation of the Small Computer Systems Interface over IP (iSCSI) support. The course then focuses on the eGGSN where the concepts—ranging from basic to advanced—are thoroughly discussed. The last part of the course deals with the eGGSN billing and the management component of the eGGSN solution. The concepts are supported by practice lab activities throughout the course. The course is based on software release 8.0.

Objectives

Upon finishing this course, you will be able to:

  • Provide an overview of the GPRS and UMTS
  • Describe common platform architectures (Cisco 7600 Series router and Cisco SAMI module)
  • Explain scalability and availability through Exchange Director
  • Explain the iSCSI support
  • Describe the Cisco eGGSN
  • Explain basic eGGSN concepts, such as GTP, AAA, IP addressing, and basic APN support
  • Explain advanced eGGSN concepts, such as IPv6, GTP session redundancy, virtual SAPN, QoS, and security
  • Describe the Cisco eGGSN billing
  • Describe the Cisco eGGSN management

Importance

The eGGSN v2.0 course is of utmost importance for networking personnel involved in Cisco mobile wireless solutions based on the Cisco eGGSN solution.

Audience

The primary audience for this course comprises network engineers responsible for configuring, implementing, troubleshooting, and managing a Cisco eGGSN solution. The secondary audience for this course includes network designers and systems engineers.
