NIL SP Services and Solutions Bootcamp v2.0
The NIL SP Services and Solutions Bootcamp (NIL_SPboot_Tech) focuses on capabilities of modern service provider networks to support advanced services and managed services for residential and business customers. The course provides an overview of the service provider core and edge networks, the technologies used, and then proceeds to the services that can be offered. In addition it describes guidelines and semi-technical implementation information needed to offer and support the following services using the service provider network:
- Service provider building blocks and technologies (architectures and Layer 1 and Layer 2 technologies)
- Internet access as a service for residential and business markets
- Layer 3 MPLS VPN services
- Layer 2 MPLS VPN services (point-to-point EoMPLS and VPLS)
- Managed customer network services (for example, Layer 3 MPLS VPN with managed switches and routers, managed centralized or distributed firewalling, centralized network services [DNS, DHCP], managed remote access, and so on)
- Centralized IP Telephony service (managed or self-managed)
- IP TV service (multicast and unicast [video on demand])
- IPv6 support
- Multihomed customers
- Server hosting in service provider Data Center
- Fixed-mobile convergence
The course discusses platforms, physical connectivity, capacity, quality of service, performance, reliability, and security for service provider core and customer networks.
