All three CCIE Security Challenge labs have 32 security scenarios and even experienced students will work hard to finish all three lab exercises in 5 days. The challenge labs expose the students to a complex large-scale secured internetwork configuration resembling real-life scenarios as CCIEs face daily, including the technologies such as advanced Firewalls, VPN solutions, IPS, identity management, control and management plane security as well as various techniques for mitigating network attacks. The labs also allow the student to gain the advanced security monitoring and troubleshooting skills.

Although the course is especially tailored for CCIE Security applicants, this course also provides intensive skills for individuals who seek an advanced further education in securing enterprise and service provider environments.

Prerequisite Knowledge

The learners must possess an expert level knowledge of security technologies and related skills in configuring Cisco ASA, IOS, IPS features on a variety of Cisco devices, such as ASA, IPS, routers and switches, equivalent to Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) designation. This level of experience can be obtained by taking the courses from the Cisco CCNP Security curriculum (SECURE, FIREWALL, VPN and IPS) and by using the related remote labs to get the required skills. Taking some advanced courses (such as BSCI, BGP) and technology-related remote labs (for example MARS, CSA) is an additional benefit. Passing the written CCIE Security Exam before attending the course is highly recommended.
