Implementing Cisco Switched Networks Remote Labs v1.0

This set of lab exercises (lab bundle) contains all the exercises associated with the Implementing Cisco Switched Networks (SWITCH) course. This course focuses on using Cisco switches connected in LANs typically found in medium or large networks.

The SWITCH course provides the learner with in-depth information on Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), security extensions of a Layer 2 network, switch based Layer 3 services like Hot Standby Router Protocol and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol, implementing High Availability and preparing wired infrastructure to support advanced services like wireless and VoIP.

Hands-on lab exercises allow the learner to practice configuration and troubleshooting knowledge and to acquire the skills necessary to configure these protocols and functionalities in customer networks.

Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to select and implement the appropriate Cisco IOSŪ services required to build a scalable, switched network. SWITCH is part of the recommended learning path for students seeking the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

Importance

This lab bundle teaches essential skills required for configuring and troubleshooting complex switched networks. It is therefore highly recommended to all students seeking experience in the technologies covered in the SWITCH course. The lab bundle is also recommended to students who have attended the SWITCH course in the past and would like to improve or refresh their configuration skills.

Target Audience

Network administrators and engineers who are responsible for implementing and troubleshooting complex switched network environments.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Students should possess skills related to configuration, operation and debugging of VLAN, EtherChannel, STP and switched based Layer 3 services. As also knowledge to configure security, high availability and advanced services like wireless and VoIP is needed.
to successfully complete these exercises. This knowledge is best gained by attending Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE) course.
