Designing Service Provider Cisco Quality of Service v1.0

This set of lab exercises contains all the exercises associated with the Designing Service Provider Quality of Service (SPQOS) course. The lab exercises cover different aspects of Quality of Service (QoS) configuration specific for Service Providers, including:

  • Cisco Modular QoS CLI (MQC) for packet classification and marking
  • Classification and marking on Cisco LAN switches
  • Congestion Management using Cisco Low Latency Qeueing (LLQ)
  • Traffic Shaping using Class-based Shaping or Generic Traffic Shaping (GTS) or Frame Relay Traffic Shaping (FRTS)
  • Traffic Policing using Class-based Policing
This set of exercises is an ideal supplement to any Web-based QoS training or as additional hands-on training for students who have attended SPQOS training in the past and would like to refresh their QoS configuration skills.

Content

This set of lab exercises contains the following exercises:

Objectives

Upon finishing this set of exercises, you will be able to:
Configure classification and differentiated marking on Cisco routers using the Cisco Modular QoS CLI (MQC)

  • Configure classification and differentiated marking mechanisms on Cisco workgroup LAN switches
  • Configure Class-based Low Latency Queuing
  • Configure Class-based Weighted Random Early Detection (WRED)
  • Configure Class-based Traffic Shaping
  • Configure Class-based Traffic Policing

Importance

This lab bundle is mandatory for students who would like to practice hands-on skills in QoS configuration. Te bundle is also highly recommended to students who have attended the SPQOS course in the past and would like to improve or refresh their configuration skills.

Target Audience

This lab bundle is targeted at pre- and post-sales technical support engineers who have to design and implement QoS-related mechanisms in SP IP networks or large Enterprise IP networks.

Prerequisite Knowledge

To successfully complete this set of exercises, you need in-depth knowledge about the following QoS areas:

  • Queuing (e.g. CB-WFQ, CB-LLQ, WRR)
  • Traffic Shaping and Policing (e.g. GTS, FRTS, CAR, CB-Policing)
  • Congestion Avoidance (e.g. WRED, CB-WRED) The required QoS knowledge can be acquired by attending the SP Quality of Service course (SPQOS).
