Implementing Cisco IP Routing v1.0

This set of lab exercises (lab bundle) contains all the exercises associated with the Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE) course. This course focuses on using Cisco routers connected in LANs and WANs typically found in medium or large networks.

The ROUTE course provides the learner with in-depth information on Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) interior gateway protocols (IGPs). It also provides information on Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), which is an exterior gateway protocol (EGP). The course covers routing principles of both distance vector and link-state routing protocols; IP addressing techniques; the theory behind the EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routing protocols; and configuration and troubleshooting information for each protocol.

Hands-on lab exercises allow the learner to practice configuration and troubleshooting knowledge and to acquire the skills necessary to configure these protocols in customer networks.

Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to select and implement the appropriate Cisco IOSŪ services required to build a scalable, routed network. ROUTE is part of the recommended learning path for students seeking the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

This set of lab exercises contains the following exercises:

Objectives

Upon finishing this set of exercises, you will be able to:
Configure and Verify EIGRP Operations

  • Configure and Verify EIGRP Circuit Emulation and Frame Relay Operations
  • Configure and Verify EIGRP Authentication
  • Implement and Troubleshoot EIGRP Operations
  • Configure and Verify OSPF to Improve Routing Performance
  • Implement and Verify OSPF Multiarea Routing
  • Configure and Verify OSPF Route Summarization for Interarea and External Routes
  • Configure and Verify OSPF Special Area Types
  • Configure and Verify OSPF Authentication
  • Configure Route Redistribution Between Multiple IP Routing Protocols
  • Configure and Verify Path Control Between Multiple IP Routing Protocols
  • Configure BGP Operations
  • Manipulate EBGP Path Selections

Importance

This lab bundle teaches essential skills required for configuring and troubleshooting complex routed IP networks. It is therefore highly recommended to all students seeking experience in the technologies covered in the ROUTE course. The lab bundle is also recommended to students who have attended the ROUTE course in the past and would like to improve or refresh their configuration skills.

Target Audience

Network administrators and engineers who are responsible for implementing and troubleshooting complex routed network environments.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Students should possess skills related to configuration, operation and debugging of EIGRP, OSPF and basic BGP, as well as route redistribution and policy-based routing to successfully complete these exercises. This knowledge is best gained by attending Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE) course.
