Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices Part 1 v1.0
This set of lab exercises (lab bundle) contains all the exercises associated with the Interconnecting Cisco Network Device Part 1 (ICND1) course. The exercises cover PC's Ethernet adapter configuration, as well as both the LAN switch (Catalyst) and router configuration for basic functionalities. The lab exercises are based on the fact that you are familiar with the basic technology aspects and they allow you to primarily focus on the basic configuration.

Objectives
Upon finishing this set of exercises, you will be able to:
Use Telnet and WireShark packet sniffer applications
- Use the ipconfig, ping, arp commands
- Restart the switch and verify the initial configuration messages
- Complete the initial device setup on the Catalyst 2950 switch
- Secure the access to the switch
- Start the Cisco router and verify the startup messages
- Use setup to configure the minimum parameters for router operation
- Secure the access to the router
- Explore context-sensitive help on a Cisco router
- Edit incorrect commands in the router CLI
- Examine the router status using the show commands
- Modify a running and startup router configuration
- Use Cisco Security and Device Manager (SDM) to configure DHCP functionality and Internet connectivity
- Configure a serial interface on the router
- Conect router to multiple locations
- Configure static and dynamic routing
- Use CDP to discover the local workgroup network from the switch and router

Importance
This lab bundle is highly recommended to all students relatively new to the internetworking. The exercises contain common network configurations to give you experience in configuring and verifying the technologies covered in the ICND1 course. The lab bundle is also recommended to students who have attended the INTRO or ICND1 course in the past and would like to improve or refresh their configuration skills.
Target Audience
The labs are targeted at pre- and post-sales technical support engineers who have to design, implement and troubleshoot their networks for basic operation.
Prerequisite Knowledge
To successfully complete this set of exercise, you need basic networking knowledge, skills in configuring and troubleshooting on Cisco IOS. This knowledge is best gained by attending Interconnecting Cisco Network Device Part 1 (ICND1) course.
